The traditional thinking is that if you are going to migrate in place (on the same computer) from Windows XP to Windows 7, you have 2 choices – you can do a clean install of the operating system, reinstall all your applications and migrate data, OR you can do a two-tiered upgrade, going from XP to Vista and then from Vista to Windows 7.
